Australia Add 7-year-old Leg-Spinner to Third Test Squad

Many of the cricketing fans might remember the seven-year-old Archie Schiller from Australia. He is the same leg-spinner who wanted to get Virat Kohli out.

Well it seems that his dream might come true after all. The hosts have added the little leg-spinner as their 15th member in their squad. He will feature in the third Test against India on the upcoming Boxing Day.

The announcement was made earlier this month that Archie would be included in the Test squad. Archie personally received the message via a phone call from coach Justin Langer.

The Australian coach personally made that call while his team was in UAE for their Test assignment against Pakistan. A delighted Archie said during the call that he wants to dismiss Kohli, currently the best Test batsman in the world.

The youngster even attended a training session prior to the first Test at Adelaide Oval. Aussie skipper Tim Paine also confirmed Archie’s inclusion in the team at BUPA Family Day at Yarra Park.

Struggles faced by Archie

The young lad is nothing less than a superhero. At just seven years of age, he has faced far more difficulties than many of us face in a whole lifetime.

When he was just three months old, he developed a serious heart condition. As a result he had to undergo an urgent surgery which lasted for more than seven hours.

After just six months, he again went under the knife to fix his faulty valves and irregular rhythms of his heart. Last year his health deteriorated again.

He underwent a third time open-heart procedure and is currently in a good state. Both the teams will look forward to make the occasion a special one for Archie.

Meanwhile the four-match Test series is currently locked at 1-1. India won the opening Test at Adelaide while Australia came back at Perth. The third Test will decide which team goes ahead in the series.
