Veteran Australian Player Proves That He Still Has Enough Fire Left In Him

Cricket News: Shane Watson, who was earlier dropped at 9 by Rahul Tripathi at first slip, ended up scoring a scintillating 106 off 57 balls.

Watson’s century and his devastating form helped CSK take the top spot in IPL.

Watson has provided CSK with flying starts in his maiden season with the franchise and on Friday he was in total control and domination over his opponents Rajasthan.

During his third century in the IPL, he was especially relentless against K Gowtham, as he hit the offie for two sixes and a boundary in the same over.

Watson had hung up his international boots two years back, but has continued playing in T20 leagues like Big Bash and Pakistan Super League, and was one of the top performers in both the leagues.

This is perhaps the 36-year-old was backed by Chennai Super Kings and was paid 4 crores for his services, despite his poor performance with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last IPL season.

Damien Fleming, while commentating, said, “Watson has been in top form for quite a while. On Friday, he had a shaky start when he gave that catch. But Rajasthan failed to take the opportunity. It boosted his confidence and he put the pressure back on the bowlers.”

Apart from his devastating form with the bat, Watson has been equally effective with the ball. He can choke his opponent batsmen with his perfect line, length, variation, and can even bowl at the death overs.

CSK’s success has always been determined by pace-bowling all-rounders like Albie Morkel, Dwayne Bravo and Dwayne Smith. With the recent performances, one can easily add Shane Watson’s name to that list.
