A Special Message from Afghanistan President

Having defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in the second qualifier, Sunrisers Hyderabad stormed into the finals of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League, and all this has happened thanks to a one-man show of Rashid Khan.

Cricket news: The Afghanistan President also thanked India for giving Rashid the ideal platform to showcase his talents

The whole cricketing fraternity had already been impressed by the performances of the young Afghan spinner Rashid Khan. The latest addition to the list is the Afghanistan President, Ashraf Ghani, who has a special message for the leg spinner.

Rashid had single-handedly taken his team to the finals with an impressive all-round performance in the second qualifier against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Sunrisers were in a critical spot when Rashid came to bat. Nobody had thought that the Orange army would reach to 174, but thanks to Rashid’s quick-fire knock of 34 not out off just 10 balls, the team posted that total.

With the ball Rashid became unplayable as he took the crucial wickets of Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa and Andre Russell. Moreover he took two catches and was part of a run-out during the KKR’s innings.

Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani posted a tweet where he praised Rashid and hailed him as the pride of the nation. He also thanked India for giving Rashid a chance to showcase his talents. He cheekily tagged Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, in his tweet.

His tweet read, “Afghans take absolute pride in our hero, Rashid Khan. I am also thankful to our Indian friends for giving our players a platform to show their skills. Rashid reminds us whats best about Afg. He remains an asset to the cricketing world. No we are not giving him away. @narendramodi.”
