5 Reasons Why Injury of Virat Kohli Can Prove Productive For India

The current skipper of the Indian team, Virat Kohli, can be an intimidating presence in the middle as he is unarguably the best player India has got in the white ball format.

Cricket news: Kohli’s injury can both be fatal as well as a blessing in disguise for India

But as Kohli is presently suffering from a neck injury, the management would be worried if he does not get fit quickly and is ruled out of the England series.

India has been dealing with a lot of problems in the middle order with Dhoni’s waning form and instability down the order, it has always been Kohli and the top order which has won the games for the team.

However even if the injury of Kohli depletes the Indian side, there is the rise of Dinesh Karthik, Dhoni and KL Rahul’s recent form that can provide the necessary strength to the team.

Here are the following reasons for which Virat’s absence can be regarded as a blessing in disguise for the team.

1. The strength of the bench gets tested

The Indian selectors have chosen four players in the likes of Ambati Rayudu, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik and KL Rahul for the middle order where they will fight for two spots.

Dinesh Karthik’s inclusion at No. 6 is almost fixed because of his recent form and the spectacular knock which he played in the Nidahas Trophy.

That leaves behind only one spot if Virat gets fit and is able to play in the England series. Moreover the series consists of 3 matches. So even if a player fails in the first two, the management would still have to back the player.

However if Virat does not get fit, it would leave behind two empty spots and the management could pick two players and compare their performances and can later back the better performer in the future.
