Butler as we all know is a blasting opener for the Mumbai Indians who joining hands with Parthiv Patel and Rana led the MI squad to a convincing 8 wickets win with 27 balls to spare.

Buttler struck a 37-ball 77 in the chase but felt the steep chase made his job a lot more easier. “I had a fantastic time,” he told the IPL website. “I’ve felt I’ve been in good form but haven’t really kicked on to make a big score. Delighted to go and get that score.

“It’s quite nice when the opposition gets a big score. You know you have only one way to get that score. Today, right from the start I was looking to play my shots. See ball, hit ball.”

Mumbai struck 82 runs in the powerplay to reduce the steep chase to a manageable one. Buttler said the team was confident of scaling any target given to them.

“We knew 200 was well within our reach,” he said. “When the ball was going to all parts of the ground when we were bowling, we kept calm because we knew we can do that to the opposition as well.

“After the start we got, it became quite manageable. We knew we can keep going with a number of batters to come. Net run rate does come in the tournament so we knew we have to win the game in less than 20 overs.”

“I think we complement each other really well. He’s a short guy who sits back and looks to play square of the wicket. It’s great to bat with a very calm guy,” Buttler pointed out.

Mumbai now host Delhi Daredevils and Rising Pune Supergiant on April 22 and 24 respectively.
