SRI LANKA VS AUSTRALIA, 2ND ODI, SRI LANKA WENT UP FOR A 82 RUNS COMPREHENSIVE WIN.

It was all about the Sri Lankans day out here at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. After the Australian team won the 1st ODI it was a tough ask for the Sri Lankans to come back hard in the series but they proved that they are not under the dominance, and backed up their abilities to a much greater extent.

After Sri Lanka posted a defensive total of 288 runs on a pure batting track that was very convincible for the batsmen, in which 3 half centuries were recorded by Kusal Mendis 69, Angelo Mathews 57, Kusal Perera 54 repectively, from the bowling attack of Aussie Mitchell Starc, James Faulkner, Adam Zampa took 3 wickets each for their side.

In return Australia managed to score only 206 runs of which the Australian wicketkeeper batsman Matthew Wade with 76 runs leading the run tally and from the bowling side it was Amila Aponso taking 4 wickets and Thisara Perera taking 3 wickets to lead their nation for a comprehensive 82 runs win

After losing the match the Australian skipper showed up his sportsmanship spirit and awarded the Sri Lankan team with his words:

“I thought we did not execute with the ball and in the field. Credit to Sri Lanka to post to 288 on the board. We just need to find ways to build partnerships. There is always pressure playing away from home, on tough wickets. He (Faulkner) got few wickets in the end when they were going well but I guess the damage had been done by then.”

Angelo Mathews won the man of the match, and on this account he said, “Chandimal and Mendis batted well up front and set the platform for me. It was not that easy and I had to scrape my way through. The credit should go to all the spinners. The young guys (mentions a few name) can go a long way, if they can keep up the good work.”
